My vision of creating paintings and drawings comes directly from my childhood in a nature-surrounded home in Topeka Kansas. Our home was on the outskirts in the 1950's and 60's before neighborhoods began. I was surrounded by creeks, massive oaks, sycamores, and elms. These woods held my imagination and we were allowed to run free.

The changing seasons and magical light became extremely interesting, and I decided at the age of six that I would be an artist.

Telling my parents of my final decision, they encouraged me by placing me into life drawing classes on Saturdays. I believe that this is why I became an artist because they supported it.

Nature is my muse and I follow her wherever she takes me be it the Kansas Flint Hills, the rolling golden hills doted with Live Oaks north of Los Angeles, the impossibly green English Cotswolds, and always back to the haunting beauty of Northern New Mexico.

It is simple. After 50 years of painting nature, I conclude that the land speaks to me and then I create the sounds with visuals. My visions are not realistic. They are the colorful beauty and spirit of what I want to see.
