Philip Busey Jr. first picked up a camera in 2002 while participating in the Washington Internship for Native Students (WINS) Program at American University in Washington, DC. His photographs from the internship were showcased in a solo exhibit at Southwestern Oklahoma State University (SWOSU) which propelled him into becoming a photographer for the weekly student newspaper, a daily newspaper and photographer for the university’s public relations office while completing his undergraduate degree. Philip put down his camera in 2004 but went back to photography in late 2015 as a hobby, focusing on landscape and architecture.

Philip is a citizen of the Cherokee Nation. He has a Bachelor of Arts from Southwestern Oklahoma State University and a Master of Liberal Arts from Oklahoma City University. Philip is an executive in the aerospace defense industry, and he resides in Oklahoma City with his wife and two boys.
