Regina free
Regina Free is a citizen of the Chickasaw Nation. She has re-engaged with her passion as an interdisciplinary artist, working in multiple mediums including watercolor, oil painting, colored pencil, graphite, ceramics and 3D media. Her 2D work is organic, highly detailed, often leaning into abstraction depending on subject matter. Regina’s 3D pieces are realistic sculptures of animals using various materials but focusing mainly on the use of paper.

Regina Free is a citizen of the Chickasaw Nation. She was born and raised in Oklahoma, graduating high school from a small Green Country town, the home of Will Rogers and the Claremore Zebras. Her love of creating art and athletics lead her to pursue a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree at Oklahoma State University, graduating in 1997. During her college years, she played softball for the OSU Cowgirls and was presented with the Student-Athlete Academic Achievement Award with the distinction of Highest Merit.
After graduating, Regina spent the next 20 years helping her husband establish
his Veterinary business in Newkirk, Oklahoma and raising their three
children. Now that her children are older, Regina has re-engaged with her
passion as an interdisciplinary artist, working in multiple mediums including
watercolor, oil painting, colored pencil, graphite, ceramics and 3D media. Her 2D work is organic, highly detailed, often leaning into abstraction depending on subject matter. Regina’s 3D pieces are realistic sculptures of animals using various materials but focusing mainly on the use of paper.
Her work has been displayed in multiple galleries such as Mark Arts in Wichita,
KS for the Abstract National Exhibition and Watercolor National, and at the
Chickasaw Nation Chokma’si gallery. She has also won awards in the John McNeese Gallery in Ponca City, OK.
Most recently, she has won Best of Shows while participating in Chickasaw
Nation’s SEASAM Art Market 2024 and Hushtola Art Market 2024. Regina also
participated in her first Cherokee Art Market (CAM) and won Best of Class
Sculpture. She has also been featured in Artist’s Magazine Winter 2025 Best of
Drawing issue.
