BASKET WEAVING WITH SUE FISH
Join us Saturday, Aug. 22, for a beginner-friendly basket weaving workshop led by award-winning Chickasaw and Choctaw artist Sue Fish. Designed for participants aged 13 and older, this hands-on class is perfect for beginners. Participants will learn the fundamentals of basket weaving and create a complete single-wall basket to take home.
The workshop begins with a 20-minute discussion exploring traditional Chickasaw basketry, including the natural materials historically used for weaving and the materials commonly used today. Participants will then spend about two hours weaving their baskets with Sue's step-by-step guidance.
